Les' latest stable aquisition |
Les Kosklin has never been short of a good horse in his stable.
Only problem is there is usually something wrong with them, which is why they end up in his stable.
Kosklin is a renowned beach trainer who has ressurected the careers of pacers such as Jaccka Smile, Ocean Spirit and Honkey Lobell.
Talented pacer Hellderado is his latest stable acquisition.
The gelding boasts an impressive record of six wins from twelve starts but hasn't raced since June 2002, where he finished seventh to Midnight Baron at Harold Park.
Kosklin explained the circumstances as to how he acquired his latest stable runner.
" David (Caffyn, former trainer) saw me at Bankstown on Treuer memorial night and told me he had a horse in work that had a few problems," he
said.
" He won a trial the following day and David sent him up to me.
" Although he was relatively fit, he needed to adjust to my style of training
on the beach and, in the the first two weeks , he actually lost fitness.
"He is now accustomed to the work I give him and is now fitter than at any stage
in the five or so weeks I've had him."
Hellderado will have his first start in tonight's Lakeside Wholesalers Pace (2030 metres) at Newcastle.
